I've had coeliac disease for 22 years. Last year I quit my corporate job with no plan — just a gut feeling that something was missing, and that I wanted to be the one to build it.
Then I went to Thailand, where eating out felt too hard, so I mostly ate out of my suitcase. On the flight home, the attendant called out "gluten-free?" Two of us answered. Instant conversation.
She was vegetarian and gluten-free. Her gluten-free meal came out with meat in it, and she just ate around it. Because that's what you do when there's no other option. Then we got talking bakeries, and there was a great gluten-free one a suburb from her house she'd never heard of.
22 years of living this, and there it was. The something missing.
So now I'm building Tavlar — a food discovery platform for people who want to eat out with confidence, not detective work.
I'm not a developer. I'm teaching myself to code as I go. I don't have it all figured out and I'm not going to pretend I do.
If you're into honest founder journeys, good food, or you just want finding somewhere to eat to feel exciting again — come along.
Eat freely. 🤍
